Scientific name: Myotis brandti

Size: Wingspan up to 25cm.

Distribution: Widespread in the UK, but rare.

Months seen: April to October

Food: Moths, flies and midges.

Habitat: Roost in trees and buildings.

Echolocation Frequency: 40 - 50 kHz

Special features: Brandt's are a small species of bat.  They have quite shaggy fur and are similar in appearance to Whiskered Bats.  One difference is that the Brandt's have a tragus which is pointed and curves forwards and outwards.
