Scientific name:  Primula elatior

Size:  Grows to a height of 30cm

Distribution:  Found in parts of East Anglia.

Flowering Months:  Late March to May

Habitat:  Found in grassland, damp deciduous woodland and hedgebanks

Special features:  Oxlips are a relative of the Primrose (Primula vulgaris).  They produce oval-shaped leaves which grow in a rosette formation.  The pale yellow flowers appear on a stem which grows from the centre of the rosette.  The flowers all have a tendency to hang in one direction.
