Size: Fronds grow to a length of around 40cm
Distribution: Found throughout the UK
Flowering months: Does not flower, but remains green and fertile for most of the year
Habitat: Woodlands - most frequently in coppiced woods
Special features: The Hard Fern is one of the few plants which remain green throughout the whole year. The long flat fronds are sterile, and the short erect fronds are the fertile ones.
